A series of YouTube webinars on dyslexia at second level by Wyn McCormack.

The challenges at second level for students with dyslexia are very different to those at primary level. Parents can struggle to know how to help at this level.   There are four webinars which would help parents.  These are the webinars on how dyslexia affects the student, how parents support the student, study skills and self-esteem.

Having run a Study Skills Workshop for senior cycle students with dyslexia for many years, I have included one webinar specifically for students on study skills. Teachers and parents would be interested in this one as well. I know what worked for students and which strategies they found most valuable.

The rest of the webinars are for teachers, and particularly the mainstream subject teacher.  There have been huge improvements in Special Education provision at second level.  However many students with dyslexia are above the criteria to access such help and are reliant on mainstream second level teachers. A key objective for me in my work has been to give whole staff in-service so that all teachers understand about dyslexia, how it affects students and practical strategies to help.
