The Relationships are Key parenting programme, by Tusla, are designed to help parents and carers form stronger and more positive relationships with their young children. The course consists of seven modules, each focusing on a key relationship element. Here are the main topics covered in the modules

  • Self-esteem and self-confidence: Building blocks of self-esteem and self-confidence through practical activities.
  • Real relationships: Understanding the two-way nature of communication within relationships.
  • Emotional bond: Exploring how children and parents form an emotional bond.
  • Cycle of trust: The importance of trust for health and learning.
  • Self-regulation: Responding to stress and dangers, and calming down or self-regulating.
  • Communication is key: Investigating positive verbal and non-verbal communication between children and parents.
  • Playing together: The benefits of play and different types of play at various ages.

These modules are designed to be flexible, allowing parents to work through them at their own pace and choose topics that are most relevant to them. The course aims to provide reassurance, guidance, and expert advice to help parents and carers strengthen their relationships with their children, ultimately benefiting their child’s health and wellbeing.
